So much for a day to day countdown... life gets in the way!
I am so excited about my first wedding of the season! Colleen and Dave will be wed on May 8th, 2010. We will be staging the first meeting prior to the ceremony at Barclay Farmstead in Cherry Hill, NJ.
This homestead reminds me so much of Bartram's Gardens where I will be getting married next month. I tried to get Peter to see me before the ceremony, but again I have been vetoed by groomzilla. He actually called himself "Groomzilla" at my bridal shower (which he was nice enough to drop me off at and pick me up from). Peter knew that I wanted a co-ed shower at a local bar, but the rest of the family wanted something more traditional. I have to say... the compromise was perfect. My Mom & my lil' sis held a beautiful... and dare I say fun... bridal shower at Valley Green Inn in Philadelphia. This is one of my favorite spots in Philly and Peter and I like to "get away" to the Wissahickon when we can!
The shower was a casual brunch complete with oversized mimosas and gormet chix salad. (Chix salad...my favorite, I get these cravings like 5 times a year! And...I normally drink Bloodies but was too nervous... I have been known to spill after 1 or 3 or so... soooo the champagne did it's job!) I was able to mingle, smile, and do the dreaded... opening of gifts in front of an audience!
Anyway, the best part of the shower, besides the wonderful people who came out to celebrate, was the table place settings. The settings were modeled after my description of the wedding day, Napa style tables that I am creating at Bartram's. The best part was the picture frames that were carefully placed on each table. The photos in the frames were details of my new home with my future Huzband! The house number, the kitchen window, the front door, everything was there... artistically rendered and representing the theme of the shower, "HOME". Each guest at the shower was given a room and they had the option of looking at our online registry and helping to furnish that room. Pretty cool!

Everyone did not know that you wanted a co-ed shower because I am the one that was in charge of planning it and this is the first I heard of it! Co-ed showers just turn into drinking fests for the men! Watch what you complain about ! haha
ReplyDeleteIt was so awesome to see you and everyone at your shower! What a great time! You looked so happy and you did a fantastic job of opening gifts in front of an audience. :) Can't wait for your wedding and all the fun!
ReplyDeleteAlright. Peter was the only one I told... shouldn't he be my everything right now! And, this is my place to vent! After all, I am ON 210% for my brides 24/7! I want to be a bride too! I changed the wording to reflect that "Peter" was the only one who I confided in about my shower!
